Hi! We’re Katie and Susie and we co-own Joyride Bookshop. 

Susie earned her degree in Psychology at SDSU and then attended the University of Maryland’s Clinical Psychology PhD program, specializing in pediatric psychology.  Katie spent most of her career teaching high school English and now runs the California chapter of Poetic Justice, a nonprofit that provides trauma-informed creative writing and art tools to people in jails, prisons, and other justice-involved communities.

Our adventure together started at a get-together with friends: we found ourselves daydreaming about bringing a children’s bookstore to San Diego and the rest is history! We welcome you to Joyride Bookshop, where we have a story for all children, everywhere.

You can find us at our brick-and-mortar location in Liberty Station which is located at 2750 Historic Decatur Road, Suite 104 (Barracks 15), San Diego CA 92106 

We are open 12pm – 5pm weekly, Fridays & Saturdays.
